Christmas at The Lost Gardens of Heligan

Here in Cornwall we are spoilt for choice when it comes to gardens to visit throughout the year. Christmas is a very special time of year when many of these gardens put on their own festive shows. The Lost Gardens of Heligan is one of our favourite gardens to visit in the local area and this December they have a great line up of events for you...

Voice of the Lost Gardens

17th November onwards for the next 12 months with seasonal changes.

This immersive educational experience is the brainchild of audio producer Annabel Ross. Each creature and plant featured in the performance is given a voice by a well known personality including Dame Judi Dench, Jimmy Doherty, Adam Henson and Hannah Stitfall, and they are involved in bite sized interviews that give a unique personative on their environment.

These brief conversations are intended to be educational, as well as entertaining and amusing. They are aimed at both adults and children as a way of providing a new perspective on wildlife in the hope that they be more respectful towards wildlife in general. You can find recordings of these conversations playing inside the Shepherds Hut, situated outside the wildlife hide.

Heligan Night Garden

Nightly from 18th November, see website for tickets and dates.

Heligan Night Garden is an enchanting lantern experience set amidst the atmospheric Lost Gardens. Heligan holds up a nocturnal magnifying glass to the often-overlooked wonders and beauty of nature on our doorstep. From Badger to fungi, bees, butterflies, snowdrops and a family of tamworth pigs, this illuminated seasonal trail creates a treasure-filled space for families and friends to discover these beautiful indigenous species.

The journey is one mile long with a stop in the middle to toast marshmallows and eat hot dogs or pulled pork rolls. It’s a magical way to spend a winter’s eve.
